Last week I ran into a scenario where web services either had an incomplete install or a failed upgrade. I was trying to installed web services to support Workflow 2.0. Two companies existed but needed to be upgraded, one succeeded, one failed and I had a mess where one stuck company was preventing me from doing anything with web services.

The specific error, which was way less than helpful, was:

A loader exception has occurred.

Loader Errors:

  • Microsoft.Dynamics.Security.InvalidSecurityContextException: Microsoft.Dynamics.Security.NonExistentSecurityObjectException : The security object does not exist.  Key = 25cc1a21-2cc4-4b13-a1c8-eea186fb688a

Blog posts didn’t help. They pointed to a company number mismatch, but that applies with a much smaller numbered key. Microsoft recommended removing and reinstalling Web Services. I uninstalled web services from the GUI and ran the manual removal scripts from customer source for good measure. The manual removal scripts are here:

Hopefully this helps someone else, or me, the next time this happens.
