# Dynamics GP: Web Client Wednesday – Default Domain

Once the web client is up and running, it gets annoying for users to have to enter the domain name and their user ID to log in to the web client. There is an easy fix for this and the details are in Appendix B of the Web Client Install and Admin guide.

To set a default domain:

1. Make a copy of the web.config file.
2. Open web.config  in Notepad
3. Near ear the end of the file, locate the  
   **<appSettings>** element.
4. Within **<appSettings>** element, add an additional key element. The element specifies the default value to use for the domain. For example:

   **Standard format**

   CONTOSO”/>

   This defaults the value CONTOSO. So instead of having to type CONTOSO\mpolino, the user can just type mpolino and enter their password.

   **UPN format**

   <add key=”DefaultUserDomain” value=”@contoso.com”/>

   In this format, instead of the user typing mpolino@contoso.com, they can just type mpolino and their password to log in.

   **No Value**

   <add key=”DefaultUserDomain” value=””/>

   If the key has no value then user will have to supply the domain when logging in.
5. Save the web.config file.
